There was widespread shock and devastation following the tragic events of last weekend, in Donegal, and we are sad to report that another family has endured a similar loss this week.

Tributes have poured in for the extended family of Anthony Hays, after a car crash in Brazil claimed his life and those of several of his wife Aline’s relatives.

According to reports, Mr Hays, from Lancashire, was on his way to a graduation ceremony in his wife’s native country when the accident occurred. He was travelling with Aline, their baby son Luiz, his mother-in-law Maria, and his sister-in-law Pamela and her nine-year-old daughter Emily, when their car collided with another vehicle which was overtaking on a notoriously dangerous patch of road.

The accident, which occurred in the Terra Nova do Norte area on Saturday night, claimed the lives of Anthony, Maria and Emily, as well as that of the driver of another vehicle; a local male believed to be in his sixties.

While baby Luiz was rescued from the crash and is in a ‘stable’ condition, mum Aline and her sister Pamela were left seriously injured.

The tot is reportedly staying with family while his mother recovers in a local hospital.

Our hearts go out to the families at this most tragic time.

SHARE to send well wishes to little Luiz and his relatives.
