According to emerging reports, a baby girl is in a critical condition in Co. Limerick this morning following a two-car collision in Co. Clare yesterday evening.

It has been established that the road traffic accident occurred on the N68 at Lissycasey at approximately 5.10 pm yesterday.

According to Gardaí, the infant - believed to be only three-months-old - and her father were transported to Limerick Regional Hospital, both suffering from serious injuries.

It is understood that the two other occupants of the vehicle in which the infant was travelling did not require hospitalisation.

Reports confirm that the road has been reopened following its closure last night.
