When mum Katy Patten decided to get a family portrait shot with her husband Justin, and their daughters Ava and newborn Giuliana, she was determined to make her late twin sons a part of the process.
Twin brothers Aidan and Gavin passed away shortly after their birth in 2011, at 23 weeks preterm.
Sharing her wishes with photographer Linda Gittins, Katy and her family shot a beautiful photo back in May, and waited to see what the creative owner of Lulu B. Photography would come up with.
Enlisting the help of her four-year-old neighbour, Linda superimposed the child’s shadow at either side of Linda and Justin, representing the spirits of their precious boys.
In the amazing photo, Linda has positioned the shadows so that they are holding the hands of their mum and dad, respectively.
Commenting on the significance of the photo, a delighted Katy told Yahoo! Parenting: “As the girls get older, we want them to know about them [the twins]. I want them to know that there were other people in our family and that they’re important to us.”
Needless to say, the photo has gone viral around the world.
