Unwrapping presents on Christmas morning to find out that you have been given more than you could ever possibly need is practically a festive tradition!

Luckily, whether it’s a jumper that’s two sizes too small, a DVD of a film you’ve already seen or another scented candle, there’s a home for it in a Barnardos shop.

Simply drop any unwanted gifts into any one of the seven shops in Carlow, Cork, Wexford and Dublin, and you'll be safe in the knowledge that its sale will raise money for Barnardos, who work with over 11,300 children and families.

Speaking about the appeal, Bernadette Harrington, said “We’ve all received a Christmas gift at one time or another that we could do without. But don’t forget – whatever that gift is, it might be just what someone else is looking for! In Barnardos shops we sell everything from clothes, shoes and accessories, to household goods, children’s toys, CDs, DVDs and books – all supporting our work with children and families around the country. Why not get your New Year off to a good start by donating your unwanted Christmas gifts?”

There is something for everyone in Barnardos' shops and donations of unwanted gifts, big or small, are always welcome!

They are looking for:
• Good quality men’s, women’s and children’s clothing
• Shoes and accessories
• Household items and pictures
• Antiques and collectibles
• DVDs and CDs
