All the money that Boots and other Pink Partners raise will go towards the Society’s Action Breast Cancer programme which provides breast cancer information and support services to thousands of women across Ireland.
One in ten women in Ireland will get breast cancer and over 2,500 women will be newly-diagnosed with breast cancer this year. 75% of these women will be over the age of 50. An average of 621 women die from breast cancer each year. The Irish Cancer Society, through Action Breast Cancer, supports thousands of women who are concerned about breast cancer and breast health. The success of the programmes over the last ten years has meant that women are now detecting changes much earlier, resulting in early diagnosis and more lives being saved.
We encourage all mums to do regular breast checks. If you notice anything unusual, make an appointment with your doctor. For more information on the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Pink Partners, visit www.cancer.ie
