The bond between children and animals really is special – they just seem to have a loving affinity for one another.

This has been proven in the most beautiful way by the story of little Josh Breaux, 9, who has touched hearts all over the world in recent times.

Josh was left heartbroken when his own dog of seven years, Bella, passed away. His family hope to welcome a new dog into their lives soon, but right now the heartbreak is just too raw.

So, what does a dog-obsessed little boy do in the meantime? Why, he pays a daily trip to his neighbour’s house, sneaks into their garage and steals a quick cuddle from their black Labrador.

Louisiana woman Holly Mallet was going over surveillance footage from a camera mounted in her garage when she caught sight of the little boy doing his rounds. She was immediately touched by his love for her dog, Dutchess, and sent out a Facebook appeal to get in touch with him.

“Anyone know who this sweet little boy is? Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesn't know if he should be here! I'd like to tell him he's welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!” she wrote.

After clocking up millions of views, the video finally led Holly to Josh, with mum Ginger Breaux reaching out to her.

“When I first saw it, I was torn as a momma, being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn't be on someone's property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much,” commented Ginger.

Needless to say, it wasn’t long before Holly and Josh formally met, and young Josh has since struck up a budding new friendship with the gorgeous Dutchess.

This is so sweet, we could actually cry.
