According to the Irish Mirror, the Puerto Rican police are treating the accident as a tragedy, and released a statement saying the alarm had been raised by Finn’s father, Anthony McCarthy.

“A call to the 911 system alerted authorities to a drowned minor at this address,” they explained.

“Upon arrival, units from Guaynabo District found the body of Finn McCarthy Reyes, aged four, drowned in the swimming pool area.”

The youngster had been playing in a swimming pool at the Palm Real housing estate, Guaynabo.
