A teenager has been arrested in connection with the Tube terror attack at Parsons Green in London yesterday morning.

29 people were injured, with many suffering burns when a homemade bomb partially exploded on the train at rush hour.

The improvised explosive device did not detonate properly but if it had, it could have caused more serious injuries and deaths.

Witnesses say a “fireball” travelled down the carriage and there was complete panic as passengers scrambled to disembark the train. Several people were hurt in the stampede to get out of the station.

It’s understood that none of the injured were seriously harmed in the horrific attack.

Following the attack, the terror threat in the UK has been raised to “critical”. Security Minister Ben Wallace said this was because another attack was likely to be “imminent”.

This morning, police arrested an 18-year-old at the port of Dover in connection to the attack.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement saying: “Detectives investigating the terrorist attack at Parsons Green on Friday, September 15 have made an arrest in connection with the investigation.

“The man remains in custody at a local police station. He will be transferred to a south London police station in due course”.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, Senior National Co-ordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, said: “We have made a significant arrest in our investigation this morning. Although we are pleased with the progress made, this investigation continues and the threat level remains at critical.

“This arrest will lead to more activity from our officers. For strong investigative reasons we will not give any more details on the man we arrested at this stage”.

According to The Metro, detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

So far, police have received 77 images and videos from members of the public via the UK Police Image Appeal website.

Photos of the crude IED have been circulating online and show a large white bucket wrapped inside a Lidl bag. One video shows the contents of the bucket still on fire after the train had been evacuated.

Our thoughts are with all those injured in the attack and their families.
