Monday, 28th March 2016 was the day Deborah and Shane had been looking forward to for a long time.

In Independence, Oregon, the couple were due to get married at the local courthouse a month before the expected birth date of their baby girl.

Having all the preparations under control and trying to get a good night’s sleep before the big day, something happened to throw their plans a little disarray.

At 4am Deborah woke to find her that her water had broken.

Understandably a time of mixed emotion, Shane explained he did what “a typical man would do” and went back to sleep.

The couple shared how they were frustrated that it meant they could no longer get married as planned, but excited that their child was about to be born.

The couple went to Salem Health Family Birth Center in Salem, Oregon where they were told that Deborah was not yet in labour.

What the staff did next is a true act of kindness.

Learning that this was the day Deborah and Shane were due to marry, the nurses took it upon themselves to organise a new wedding day for the couple.

Within a couple of hours, Deborah and Shane's alternate wedding was organised.

The next morning celebrations continued when Deborah gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Aponi.
