The close friend of a woman who recently learned that her young son would soon lose his sight has launched an online campaign to help eight-year-old Daniel complete his 'sight bucket list'.

In a heartfelt post on their GoFundMe page, Tracy Beesley appealed to the public for help after learning that her friend's family had been dealt a devastating blow.

Outlining the situation, Tracy wrote: "At the minute, Dan is waiting for results of a genetic disorder, which in itself brings it's own complications. What we do know now is Dan has been diagnosed with Optical Atrophy."

Explaining the severity of the little boy's diagnosis on the page which was created on January 15th, Tracy continued: "This means his eyesight will go within the next few years, he has also been fitted with hearing aids as he is losing his hearing too."

Dan, who also lives with Autism, is, according to Tracy, passionate about trains and his family are determined to treat the brave little boy to certain experiences before he succumbs to the condition's prognosis.

"Dan loves nothing more in this world then his trains, and he has so much he wants to see in this world before that privilege is taken away from him. We want to try and raise as much money as possible to make some of this little man's dreams come true," she wrote.

Speaking on behalf of Team Dan, Tracy explained the importance of their online endeavour, writing: "This is absolutely heartbreaking for his family and friends and we need to do something special for Dan before he loses these senses."

Eager to help Daniel fulfil his dreams and support his family as they come to term with their child's diagnosis, members of the public have responded to Tracy's appeal in their droves.

Donating sums between €10 and €2,500, the public have rallied together and left messages of support for the family who may have difficult times ahead, but will survive anything with the help of loving friends and relatives.

We're wishing Daniel all the best on his well-deserved adventures, and include a link to his GoFundMe page for anyone who wants to contribute to this very worthy cause.
