She captured hearts and touched lives wherever she went, and it is with great sadness that we report on the passing of the courageous Kirsty Howard.

 

Kirsty, who was born with a rare condition whereby her heart was back-to-front, passed away at the age of 20 after defying doctors’ expectations. At the age of just four, she was given only weeks to live.

 

A former Pride of Britain Awards winner, Kirsty fought a brave battle against her illness and raised awareness and funds for her condition all around the world.

 

During her precious life, Kirsty met and inspired a whole host of celebrities, with David Beckham even crediting her for helping him to score a vital goal during a World Cup qualifier.

 

 

The impact of Kirsty’s life and campaigning is clear to see on social media today, with so many well-known faces paying tribute to her.

 

Singer Russell Watson took to Twitter to express his sadness over the news, tweeting: “My inspirational friend Kirsty Howard is with the Angels. My heart is aching so much. RIP Angel forever xxxx.”

 

Meanwhile, Coronation Street actor Anthony Cotton tweeted: “Just heard the news about Kirsty Howard, Manchester’s most precious daughter. It was a privilege to have known her.”
