When you’re planning a child’s birthday party, the chances are that you’re always thinking about what could potentially go wrong – but, most likely, it’s never anything as dramatic as this!
The internet has enjoyed quite the giggle today, after learning that a unicorn led police in California on a four-hour car chase this week.
Okay, so it wasn’t exactly a unicorn – it was a white pony who had been decked out with a pink head-harness and glittering horn for a child’s birthday party.
According to local reports, the unicorn first escaped at about 2.30pm, but was led back to its adoring little guests shortly after. However, the mythical animal made a break for it again just three hours later, when left under the supervision of the party guests.

What resulted was a four-hour car chase during which drivers were left positively baffled and amused by what they saw before them.
One witness told local news: “Some motorists were surprised and hesitant to report the pony with the pink halter and the horn in the roadway as a unicorn, but others were quite sure they had actually seen one.”
Eventually the unicorn was found and brought to safety, and while people got a good laugh out of the story, a policeman helping in the chase said it could have ended badly had the pony been harmed on the road.
Moral of the story: don’t leave your unicorn unattended among little ones.
