This year, most people's social media newsfeeds have been inundated with stories from around the globe showing the true magic and wonder of the festive season.

From Santa's who communicate with children through sign language to members of the public eager to share and maintain the magic of Christmas, there's no doubt that the month of December goes a long way towards restoring our faith in humanity.

One little boy who has contributed massively to this wave of hope and season of goodwill is four-year-old Prestyn Barnette from South Carolina whose recent meeting with Santa was enough to bring seasonal shoppers to a standstill.

Upon telling Father Christmas that he hoped to receive a toy train on December 25th, Preston then took a moment to make an extra special request on behalf of a newborn baby who was found unresponsive in his cot on November 30th and is currently being kept alive with the help of a respirator.

Requesting that Santa pray for baby Knox whom Preston learned of through his grandmother's Facebook prayer group, Father Christmas made the decision to bring forward the request and suggested tht Preston join him in fulfilling it.

Speaking to WIS-TV, Preston's grandmother, Robin Sharpe, recalled the incredible tender moment which unfolded in front of dozens of harassed shoppers, saying: "Santa said we will pray now and he got down and prayed."

Reflecting on the impact, Preston's request had on onlookers, Robin revealed: "There were many bystanders there that day. They just stood some of them, just bowed their head and prayed."

Preston's aunt Rebekah captured a photo of the moment and the image has since been shared by baby Knox's family who have been advised to switch off their child's life support machine, but who insist they will continue to have hope in their son's recovery.

We're thinking of everyone involved this Christmas.
