There comes a time in every child's life when a particular Christmas milestone must be reached and while some take it on the chin and revel being part of a new grown-up club, others find the transition a little harder to handle.
Take Nicki Adams' daughter, Belle, for example.
Upon learning that a significant part of the festive season was the combined efforts of adults, loving family members and protective older siblings, Belle hit the roof and wasted no time sharing her feelings on the matter.
Feeling she had been lied to for the best part of her childhood, the sassy youngster, who insisted the revelation had left her 'heartbroken', penned a letter to her parents who subsequently published their daughter's sentiments on social media.
Opening up about the chain of events which led to the little girl's outpouring of emotion, Nicki wrote: "Belle asked point blank about Santa and she’s been asking every day. So we were truthful and she may never speak to us again."
Thankfully for the Adams' family, Belle quickly saw past her upset and now delights in Santa's story and revels in the magic of Christmas.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, Nicki explained that Belle has taken on a very special responsibility and is more than happy to continue spreading good cheer this Yueltide.
"We spoke to her about the magic of Santa and how he lives in her heart. She now knows that it’s her duty to be part of Santa’s team and to help others believe and spread the magic of Christmas," Belle's proud mum revealed.
