John Lewis really know how to strike a cord with its audience, and their Christmas ad for this year is no different.

Stepping away from 2013’s The Hare and the Bear or last year’s Monty the Penguin, 2015 is out of this world as a little girl called Lily tries to ensure The Man on the Moon feels included in the festive season.

Using the magic of Christmas, Lily manages to ensure he feels closer to the rest of the world - and encourages viewers to reach out to the elderly or someone who they know is alone at the same time.

The department store is using its huge profile to raise thousands of pounds for Age UK – the UK’s largest charity working with older people. They will also be encouraging their staff and customers to join up with their local branch of the charity to give a helping hand.

The ad’s campaign line: "Show someone they’re loved this Christmas", echoes the charity’s moto: "No one should have no one at Christmas."

Profits from a mug, gift tag and card will go to the charity.
