Dr. Bernadette Scully is due to stand trial for the murder of her 11-year-old daughter Emily Barut at their family home in Tullamore in 2012.

The 57-year-old GP, who appeared at Tullamore District Court today for a remand hearing, has subsequently been sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court.

The court had previously heard that Dr. Scully was almost in negative equity and therefore unable to pay legal fees.

As a result of this, Judge Catherine Stains has continued legal aid for the doctor.

The body of Dr. Scully's wheelchair-bound daughter was found in her home in Bachelor’s Walk two years ago while her mother lay unconscious nearby.
