A concerned mum in Argentina, who set up a secret camera in her home and linked it to her smart phone, was devastated to realise her fears had a grounding in reality.

Witnessing footage of the 25-year-old nanny she hired to look after her children hitting and stealing food from her baby left Cristina Ceril in a state of shock.

Acting on reports from neighbours that her children were often heard screaming when alone with babysitter Eve Mantaras and concerned about bruising that appeared on her children's skin, the 33-year-old mum decided to monitor Eve's behaviour while alone in the house.

The nanny was recorded hitting Cristina's child as he cowered in his highchair in footage that is now in police custody.

Commenting on the devastating events which occurred in her own home, Cristina said:"We always thought she was a bit lazy around the house, but we never imagined for a second that she was violent too."

Admitting that the footage has traumatised her, the mum-of-two said: "It now makes my blood run cold to think what she might have been doing."

The video footage will be used in charges of criminal assault and child abuse against Eve Mantaras.
