A Facebook page, entitled Mummy Wars - Aussie Style, has come in for criticism after members of the public accused it of promoting bullying.

The controversial page, which was created to comment and judge the parenting approach of other mothers, has been slammed by Facebook users who condemn the page's insensitive approach to fellow mums.

Followers of the page have defended its content, asserting that it acts as a support network for its 7000 members while others insist it offers a realistic view of life as a parent.

Images uploaded to social media by well-meaning parents are ridiculed by members of the controversial Facebook group - something which is openly acknowledged by the group.

Justifying her decision to establish the page, the group's creator said: "We all judge. It's just the way the world works."

Insisting her group offers a variation on the standard parenting pages, she continued: "There are millions of positive parenting support groups on Facebook. Millions. They're all the same and they all share the same rules whereby you must not judge or criticise."

Adamant that thousands of parents seek an alternative support network, she explains: "Many of us don't want to be lovey dovey all the time. They want to discuss stupid posts and idiotic parenting choices with like minded people."

The group's creator dismisses the notion that the page condones bullying by suggesting the group's members merely offer an honest interpretation of fellow parent's decision, saying: "They want honesty without being labelled a bully."

Disgusted by the group's compulsion to mock the choices and decision of other families, one Facebook user wrote: "Why does everyone actually enjoy putting down other mothers? Like seriously, what do you get out of it?"

Pouring scorn on the public's concern, the creator of the group lays bare her feelings on the matter, saying: "Parenting isn't what it's made out to be by sanctimonious, politically correct "supportive" people. Parenting sucks. Kids are annoying. We are honest."
