We are sending big congratulations today to the team behind the Cork Rainbow Club for Children with Autism, who have won the prestigious KBC Brightest Idea 2015.

Based in Mahon, the innovative organisation was awarded the top prize fund last night after a public vote. It beat off stiff competition from 40 other shortlisted projects, while a total of 300 entered the annual scheme.

As the first community group to win, Cork Rainbow Club for Children with Autism was awarded a total prize fund of €7,500. The money will be used to equip indoor and outdoor spaces designed to support children with autism and sensory difficulties.

Expressing her delight after the organisation’s win, Karen O’Mahony of the Rainbow Club said that the accolade means a lot to the team, the children and their families.

“The Rainbow Club provides therapeutic support for children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, and a much needed space for their families. The funding from KBC Bank means that the Rainbow Club can continue to flourish and make a real difference to young families in our community for years to come,” she said.

Well done to all involved. For more information on KBC Bank’s Brightest Idea scheme, visit www.kbcbrightideas.com.
