Is it teething time for your little one?
Fairy lights are not just for Christmas and are a great way to add colour, light, warmth and a little bit of character to your home. Not just for a child’s bedroom, they look pretty fantastic in any room in the house.

Around a mirror
If you have a mirror in your hall, instead of sticking with a table lamp, why not drape some fairy lights around the frame. Plain ones look great set against a fussy background while large flower style ones add some colour to a cream wall.

Wrapped around branches
Go into the garden and pick up some large branches. Arrange them along the mantlepiece and wrap some fairy lights around them. This is a really inexpensive way to add a bit of character to your home. You can do this in any room in the house, just make sure the branches are large enough to create a dramatic impact.

In the fireplace
If you have a fireplace that you don’t use, instead of leaving it empty or filling it with large candles, wrap the fairy lights around coal or logs to give the impression of a real fire.

Around the bed
If you have a wrought iron bed you can wrap the fairy lights around it to give a romantic feel. Do this in your child’s bedroom for a real fairy princess–styled room.

Down a wall
For dramatic impact, hang the lights either vertically or horizontally down a plain wall in your kitchen or living room.

On the ceiling
For a subtle, starry night sky, paint the bedroom ceiling a dark blue and affix fairy lights to it. The twinkling light will look just like the night sky.
