Gardaí have this morning appealed to the public for assistance with their investigation, following the tragic death of a 13-year-old cyclist.

According to a garda statement issued this week, the unnamed male teen was cycling along the N51 Slane Road, Drogheda, on 21st August when his bike was involved in a collision with a car.

The teen was rushed to hospital with serious injuries shortly after.

In a sad update this morning, gardaí confirmed that the cyclist died from his injuries last night, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The authorities are asking anyone who was travelling on the N51 on Sunday, between 7:30pm and 8:30pm, to get in touch with them immediately.

If you think you can help, you are asked to make a call to the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111, or get in touch with any Garda Station.

Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the victim, and they will remain in our thoughts and prayers over the coming weeks.

SHARE to spread the word and, hopefully, help the gardaí with their investigation.
