As parents, we all feel the pressure to be “cool” for our children, but this latest story from the States is taking it to ridiculous levels.
Dad Jeff Lake has been arrested after throwing a Playboy-themed birthday party for his 18-year-old daughter, Olivia.
According to reports, Lake threw the party at the family home in Poway, California, with a reported 200 guests attending, many scantily clad in lingerie.
Lake, who is a lawyer, is said to have provided his daughter and her guests with alcohol which, given that many of the partygoers were underage, landed him in big trouble with the local police.
Authorities have since arrested Lake on grounds of supplying alcohol to minors, and he could face up to six months in jail if he is found guilty.
Despite having her father arrested and her party shut down, Mr Lake’s daughter expressed no regrets over throwing the party.
“Huge thanks to everyone who was able to be a part of last night! I hope you all had a damn good time and that you’re all okay and safe,” she reportedly wrote on social media.
Local Mayor Steve Vaus expressed his shock over the event, telling 10News: “I’d like to put a scarlet letter in front of the homes of people that do this, to say you can’t trust these folks, they make bad decisions related to kids’ safety.”
