Nothing says 'I love you' more than receiving a present which show the gift-giver put time and energy into creating something which they know will bring a smile to your face.

So, we can only imagine how deflated one loving father felt when he shared images of the play-kitchen he created for his two-year-old son out of an old entertainment centre he bought at Goodwill for $13.

With patience, determination and incredible eye for detail, reddit user, SixStringHook, and his wife fashioned a very impressive culinary centre for their little boy who has displayed a keen interest in cooking.

But it appears that their efforts have done little to impress internet users who were quick to deride their loving deed by insisting the project would be better suited to a little girl.

Despite the fact the couple's project was viewed a whopping 640,000 times and received much support from the Reddit community, they couldn't help feel dismayed by the influx of negative comments they received regarding their little boy.

Apparently disgusted by the toddler's interest in cooking, one internet user wrote: "You are what is wrong with your country... I hope your kid gets beat [sic] up at school."

Wholly appalled by the backlash, the outraged father decided to silence his critics with a succinct summation of his approach to parenting.

"Let me be perfectly blunt. F*** you," he began in a post which took aim at the individuals who blasted his kind efforts.

"Anytime my wife and I go to our local science centre, or to the children’s museum, our son always wants to play in the kitchen playset area."

"He always wants to watch us cook and likes being involved, so we thought this would be a good idea," he explained.

"Furthermore, if my kid wanted a Barbie doll I would get it for him. If that is what he wants, then that is what he wants"

"It’s his decision what he wants to play with. Not mine," he reminded the community of individuals who felt compelled to comment on his family in a negative fashion.

SixStringHook has been commended for addressing his online critics.
