When you are growing up, anything that makes you stand out or seem different to those around you can be a nightmare to come to terms with, which is why this dad’s actions are so heartwarming.

When little Charlotte Campbell recently received a cochlear implant, her dad Alistair went to extremes to make sure that she didn’t feel like the odd one out.

In an amazing gesture of love, Alistair decided to get his own version of a cochlear implant – a tattoo just above his ear.

Charlotte, who is just six years old, is from New Zealand, and has been diagnosed as profoundly deaf. This is the second cochlear implant that she has received, while her eight-year-old brother Lewis also wears hearing aids.

Alistair shaved his head especially so that everyone can see his ‘implant’, which little Charlotte was delighted with. While he has said that he will grow his hair back, he insists that he will shave it off again if Charlotte wants him to.

Posting the photo to Facebook, Alistair revealed that his little one giggled when she first saw it, but now thinks that it is ‘cool’.

Now that is what we would call a devoted dad. Well done to him.
