It’s the festive phenomenon that has captured the imaginations of children all over the world, and now it looks as though parents are getting in on the ‘Elf on the Shelf’ action, too.

For anyone out there who isn’t aware of the concept of Elf on the Shelf, it’s a fun Christmas countdown that parents undertake with their children, whereby an elf turns up in various (and often hilarious) predicaments and positions around the house.

One person who has taken the concept quite literally this year is Joe Wynberg, an American father-of-four who has himself been dressing up as an elf named ‘Fle’ and posing for some hysterical pictures taken around his home.

I think FLE is pretty upset about last night and is seeking revenge against those responsible for duck taping him to the wall.

I brought in re-enforcement to get FLE the "Elf on the Shelf" under control.

Because picking up after four kids isn't enough! FLE was pretty exited about the first snowfall of the year and I'm pretty sure he pee'd on the floor. I'm getting rid of this thing!

Joe’s wife Megan has been documenting Fle’s genius journey, capturing photos of him hanging from the Christmas lights, kneeling on the chimney pot and even taped to the wall!

As you can imagine, Fle’s photos are delighting and entertaining the internet no end, and he has become a viral sensation.

Once you start scrolling through Megan’s Facebook page, you just won’t be able to stop!

Kudos to Joe and his wonderful creativity – we bet his little ones are getting a real kick out of this.
