Halloween is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times of the year for our children.

However, while the world should be their oyster when it comes to costumes and characters, many children find themselves limited by gender boundaries.

Conforming to societal norms, little girls are often found dressed as princesses while their male counterparts sport vampire masks.

Bucking the trend this year, and doing so with aplomb, is one little boy from Virginia called Caiden Henson.

With the help of his dad Paul, Caiden will be transformed into his current favourite character and spend October 31st trick or treating as Elsa from family favourite flick Frozen.

Uploading a photo of his little boy sporting the famous Elsa costume to Facebook, Paul was stunned by the overwhelming support he received.

With his tongue sticking out and his arms splayed to properly showcase his gown, Caiden posed for a snap which has since been shared thousands of times.

Explaining the motivation behind his decision to allow Caiden to channel his inner Elsa, Paul wrote: “Keep your masculine bullsh*t and sl*tty kids costumes, Halloween is about children pretending to be their favourite characters. Just so happens, this week his is a princess.”

Rising to the challenge posed by his son, Paul wrote: “He wants to be Elsa. He also wants me to be Anna. Game on.”

Paul opened up about the feedback he has received upon sharing his son's Halloween plans, saying; “I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘Holy cr*p it’s been shared a couple thousand times. I couldn’t log into my Facebook.”

In an incredibly succinct summation of his attitude towards parenting, Caiden's doting dad simply said: “Support your children, love them, they look up to you as their heroes. Why not help them achieve their goals?”

We couldn't agree more.
