Dealz has issued an urgent recall on packs of granulated sugar due to the possible presence of metal wire.
Irish stores have urged customers to return 1.65g packs of Whitworths Granulated Sugar. Products with batch codes F301U81902 and F301U81933 have been recalled.
Customers have been asked to return the products to their local Dealz store where they will be given a refund.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland website warned: “As a precautionary measure, Whitworths Sugar is initiating a recall of the above batches of its Whitworths Granulated Sugar, due to the possible presence of small pieces of metal wire."
They added: “The implicated batches were sold in Dealz stores. Consumers that purchased the implicated batches are advised to return the product to the store it was purchased from for a full refund.”
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland confirmed that no other Whitworths sugar products were affected by this recall.
