This week, our hearts are going out to the family of Katie Murphy, the 16-year-old who died in a tragic car crash in Waterford, on Wednesday.

Katie’s heartbroken father, Hilary, gave an insight into his grief as he took to Facebook to pay tribute to his ‘beautiful’ daughter.

“Our beautiful daughter was taken from us last night in a car accident. We loved her so very much, and I don’t know how we can cope without her,” he wrote.

Messages of support have come flooding in for Hilary and his family in the wake of their devastating loss.

Katie died after the car she was travelling in hit a wall, in Tramore, on Wednesday night. Three other passengers were taken to hospital for treatment after the accident.

Joining in the tributes to Katie was her uncle, Paul Murphy, who posted a special message over on his own Facebook page.

“Our beautiful and much loved niece, Katie, died last night in a car accident. Please pray for her and for her devastated mother, father, brothers and extended family and friends. Thanks to all the emergency services for their help and support. Rest in peace, Katie,” he wrote.

We can’t begin to imagine what Katie’s loved ones are going through right now. They are in our thoughts and prayers.
