Our hearts go out to former The Only Way Is Essex star, Cara Kilbey, who confirmed she suffered a miscarriage five months into her pregnancy.

Three months after excitedly announcing her pregnancy on Instagram, a representative for the star today confirmed her tragic loss.

In a statement made on behalf of Cara and her partner, her representative stated: "It is with great sadness that I must inform you, that last week Cara Kilbey suffered a late miscarriage. Cara was over five months pregnant when she lost her baby."

Urging the public ro respect Cara's privacy at this difficult time, the statement continued: "Cara and her partner are devastated at the loss and will not be commenting further on this deeply upsetting matter. I hope their privacy is respected in order to give them time to grieve and seek support."

While Cara hasn't made an official announcement, the star did post a poignant message on Twitter earlier today which read: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

The devastated star paid tribute to Sands charity through her representative who said: "Cara would like to thank Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, for their tremendous support. As a charity Sands is there to help and support anyone affected by the death of a baby."

We are thinking of Cara at this hugely difficult time.
