A teenager has passed away after making the decision to climb on top of a freight train in West Yorkshire yesterday evening.
It is understood that the 15-year-old youth unfortunately came into contact with overhead electrical wires during the ill-advised stunt.
According to British Transport Police reports, the teenage boy was in the company of two other teens during yesterday's shocking incident.
Commenting on the tragedy, a spokesperson for the BTP said: "At this stage it would appear that the two boys and the female were on the railway line and the 15-year-old boy had climbed on to a freight train at the location."
The 16-year-old male and 18-year-old female are also understood to have sustained non life-threatening injuries during the incident and are currently being treated at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
Despite being treated by paramedics at the scene of the devastating accident, the 15-year-old died from his injuries before being transferred to hospital.
Our thoughts go out to all those affected by yesterday's tragedy.
