According to police investigating the death of two people at Ealing Broadway station in West London yesterday, the victims were a 36-year-old mother and her 16-year-old daughter.

The deaths, which occurred at approximately 6.00 pm last night, were not being treated as suspicious, but authorities were working feverishly to determine the identity of the two individuals struck by a train at the station on Tuesday evening.

Commenting on the devastating incident at the busy London station, Supt Chris Horton from the British Transport Police said: "Shortly before 6.10pm on Tuesday 23 June, we were called to Ealing Broadway station following reports of a person struck by a train."

Elaborating on the details of the incident which spread rapidly on social media, he explained: "Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Metropolitan police service and London ambulance service and discovered two people had been struck and killed by a train."

The victims of the rush hour tragedy were established following inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the event, with Supt. Chris Horton going on to say: "As a result of those inquiries we are now able to confirm that the deceased have been identified as a 36-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, who were mother and daughter."
