Devastation as young boy is killed during 4th of July celebrations

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of seven-year-old Amari Brown who was tragically killed during celebrations in the United States last night.

It is understood the little boy was enjoying festivities with his family when an individual opened fire in the Chicago neighbourhood of Humboldt Park.

According to police reports, Amari was standing with an unrelated woman by North Harding Avenue when shots rang out across the neighbourhood close to midnight

While the woman is understood to be a stable condition in hospital, Amari sustained injuries to his chest which tragically proved fatal.

The little boy, who was not believed to be the intended target, was pronounced dead at Stoger Hospital this morning.

Unfortunately, Amari was not the only victim of overnight shootings in Chicago, with two 26-year-old men dying from gunshots wounds in two separate incidents in the city.
