The magic is finally here….The Walt Disney Company have just opened their very first Disney store in the Republic of Ireland. The store is located at 60 Grafton Street, Dublin and MummyPages was given a sneak peek of the store before the grand opening.

As expected, the store is a magical wonderland of all things Disney.  A lot of thought has been put into the store in a typical Disney manner, with many unique features that will capture your child’s imagination.  With 90% of the store merchandise only being available to purchase in Ireland from the Grafton Street store, there are endless opportunities for any princess or swash buckling pirate to be dressed from head to toe in Disney outfits.

Along with exclusive merchandise featuring all of Disney’s favourite characters, there are free daily events for children and lots of magical moments to experience with ‘cast members’ who truly bring the magic of Disney to life.

It’s difficult to do the store justice but there are a few features which we particularly like:
  • There is a magical opening ceremony every day at the store. One child is selected each day to participate in the opening ceremony and officially ‘Unlock Imagination’. A giant clock counts down the opening moment and reveals 12 Disney characters. There is also a special appearance by Tinker Bell who spreads her pixie dust across the store.
  • There is a sparkling ‘pixie dust pathway’ that leads you through the store with eight trees.  As you’d expect, they aren’t ordinary trees – they constantly change throughout the day and season with Disney animations.  They also change in keeping with the season – we can’t wait for the Christmas snowy ones.
  • Little girls will love the ‘Disney Princess Room’ where the six Disney Princess characters make an appearance in the ‘Magic Mirrors’.  Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White and Tiana each tell their own short story when they are brought to life by little girls visiting the store.  They just need to figure out, how to awaken the princesses in the mirror!
  • We particularly liked the stunning Disney skyline that surrounds the perimeter of the store. This skyline features characters such as Dumbo and Peter Pan who fly past during the day, as well as well-know landmarks that can be seen in Disney movies.  Ask any of the cast members to show your little ones where Tinker Bell lives and they won’t be disappointed.
  • If you follow the pixie dust path around the store, you will end your visit at the Disney Store Theatre which houses a ginormous screen. Children can choose Disney clips on the Imagination Station as well as trailers for forthcoming Disney films, such as Disney/Pixar Cars 2. The theatre also hosts a number of free events such as animations classes, story telling, trivia quizzes and ‘showtime’ where children can learn a song and dance of their favourite character.
  • The Imagination Explosion features a special appearance from Tinker Bell where she banishes the Disney villains from the store, with the help of the children who are visiting the store at the time.
  • For special occasions such as a birthday or birth of a new child, the child’s name will appear across the giant screen store-wide and there will be special music played and firework animations in the trees.

It’s a lovely store and a great addition to Dublin.  It’s a shop to visit to buy a special little person a treat, or maybe just steal away some magical time.
