When it comes to our children and their safety, nothing can get in the way of ensuring they are protected, and this is something that Vakil Yosufi has proven this week.

The father has made headlines in his native Canada, after running down a highway after his stolen car, which contained his precious three-month-old baby.

According to reports, Yosufi’s wife was at a flea market on Sunday, when he parked outside and headed in to join her. He told local media that he left his car running, with the keys in the ignition and the baby in the backseat. He insisted he was planning to return to the vehicle within minutes.

During the time Yosufi was away from the car however, a thief – a male, thought to be in his forties – came along and stole the car, driving away down the highway.

Realising what had happened, Yosufi gave chase down the road on foot, and was reportedly struck and injured by the car.

Police were alerted to the incident, and an Amber Alert was sent out in the hopes of tracking down the child. Thankfully, police received a tip-off from a member of the public later in the day, informing them that the baby had been located along with the car. The vehicle had been abandoned about four miles away from where it had been stolen.

According to the CBC news outlet, the baby was found “safe, but shivering” inside the car.

The tot was reunited with its parents, and police have confirmed that Yosufi will not face charges.

Authorities are now going through surveillance footage in a bid to identify the thief. They went on to thank the public for their part in the search for the child, revealing that the social media response to the Amber Alert was ‘massive’.

We are so glad that this little tot was found safe.

SHARE to send well wishes to the poor little one.
