Jordan Banjo has admitted that his young family were forced to move house in fear of their safety.
The terrifying ordeal came as a result of Diversity’s ‘Black Lives Matter’ performance on Britain’s Got Talent in September 2020.
At the time, the dance troupe’s performance received more than 23,000 complaints to media regulator Ofcom.
Now, father-of-three Jordan - who welcomed son Atreus two months ago with his wife Naomi - has shared that the backlash also affected his family life.
In an interview with MailOnline, the 30-year-old recalled that several furious viewers turned up at his home in Essex, which resulted in the police being called.
“It was really scary, I had to move house, I remember I came out one time and there was cement thrown at my car,” he explained. “There was two guys trying to climb my fence into my garden, I had to get the police.”
Looking back at the awful ordeal, the dance star confessed that it was a “scary” time.
“In the end, because I'm not there a lot [due to work] I had to move house. And I took the kids and Naomi and we just went because I didn't feel comfortable there,” he detailed.
Despite what he went through, Jordan went on to insist that his older brother Ashley was forced to deal with heavier backlash.
“I got it bad, but I mean, Ash got it worse than anyone, he was getting hammered left, right and centre,” he stated.
However, even though the group got intense criticism, the I'm A Celeb star praised the overwhelming support that they also received.
“I'd be like walking down the street and someone would pull over and go listen, man, I just wanna say what you and the rest of Diversity did was incredible,” he noted.
“People at petrol stations, like wherever it was, only positive things but you never noticed that at the time. You only really focused on the negative comments on social media,” Jordan concluded.
