A planned documentary on Amy Fitzpatrick, who went missing in Spain more than six years ago, was pulled by TV3 bosses after Amy’s mum, Audrey Mahon, threatened legal action.

According to the Irish Independent, Audrey claimed the programme could potentially damage her reputation and that of her husband, Dave Mahon, who is serving seven years in prison for killing Audrey’s son, Dean.

“Audrey sent in a letter from her lawyers saying she will sue, that she is going to get an injunction if we go to air,” a source told the publication.

“She said that she could tell by the people that were taking part in it that it would be negative. She also said we would be putting her husband’s life in danger if the documentary went out.”

Amy was last seen leaving her friend’s apartment in the Costa de Sol in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2008, and in an emotional tribute posted on his Facebook page, her father Christopher Fitzpatrick said “someone knows the truth.”

"Amy was 15 at the time of her disappearance she has black hair, is 1.65m tall, and was wearing brown crushed velvet tracksuit bottoms and a black T-Shirt with the word 'Diesel' in various different colour's when she was last seen,” he wrote.

"Someone knows the truth and it is never too late to come forward."

The documentary on Amy’s disappearance formed part of the TV station’s new Missing series – the story of Trevor Deely, who has been missing since 2000, replaced the Amy Fitzpatrick documentary.
