Most of us have been touched by cancer in one form or another at some stage of our lives.

Whether you’ve battled the disease yourself or watched a loved one struggle with the implications of a diagnosis, there is no doubt that cancer and its effects are far reaching.

As a result, many of us feel compelled to lend a hand, raise awareness or make a donation, but aren’t quite sure where to start.

If this sounds familiar, then the Breast Cancer Great Pink Run 2015 taking place this summer is most definitely for you!

In conjunction with Avonmore Slimline Milk, Breast Cancer Ireland are calling on you to lace up your trainers, gather together your gang and show the 10km challenge and 5km Family Fun Run exactly what you’re made of!

The incredible event, which aims to raise funds which will go towards supporting ongoing breast cancer research, will take place on Saturday August 29th in Dublin’s Phoenix Park and has the backing of a number of well-known Irish sports stars.

Speaking at the event’s launch this week, Kerry footballer, Paul Galvin said: ”It's my pleasure to help promote this event for a very worthy cause. With 13 weeks to go it sounds like a great way to set yourself a training target, or just mark it down in the diary as a great, fun and colourful event for all the family to get involved at the end of the summer holidays.”

By taking part in this fantastic event, you will be helping to raise money which will support a national collaborative initiative within each of the designated cancer centres in Ireland.

Further explaining the motivation behind the event, Aisling Hurley, CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland, said: "Everyone knows someone affected by Breast Cancer and The Great Pink Run is a super opportunity for families to show their support, confident in the knowledge that they are helping our overall goal of transforming breast cancer, through research, from often being a fatal disease to a treatable long term illness."

Now it its 5th year, this family-friendly event attracts participants from as far afield as the US, all determined to make a difference in the ongoing battle against cancer.
