In 1965, Roy Langdon wrote a love note to his wife on a piece of dry wall in their home.

Well, over 50 years later, the current resident discovered the message and began a quest to find the loving couple.

Roy and Germaine were married in 1949 and had six children together. They were inseparable until her death in 2009, when Roy decided to move out of the home they had shared together.

Rebecca Churáň was the person to become the newest resident of the home and whilst renovating she discovered this note on the back of some wall panelling.

The message wrote: "Germaine loves Roy xx 1965 March 1st".

Touched by the message, she wanted to find the couple whose love was captured in the note.

She took to local community Facebook groups trying to find any family members of the couple with the aim of cutting it down and giving it to them as a keepsake.

It was Roy and Germaine’s daughter, Claudette, that came across the post and who organised to reunite the message with her father.

Claudette told Rebecca the sad news that her mother, Germaine, had since passed away.

As a sign of their gratitude, the family invited Rebecca to join them for Easter dinner where she surprised Roy, now 92-years-old, with the piece of dry wall.

“The love I could feel he had for his past wife was almost too hard to take” Rebecca said on Facebook.
