If you’re looking to get out of the house tomorrow, why not try one of these kid-friendly events taking place both in the daytime and after dark?

Dublin
 
Procession of Light
Stephen’s Green – Temple Bar – City Hall – Dublin Castle
7 – 8pm

As part of Dublin’s three day New Year’s Festival, a parade of street performers, light installations and fire-breathers will light up the city during this hour long procession. Watch from your chosen spot or walk along and join in the New Year’s magic!
 
Luminosity
Barnardo’s Square
5pm – 9pm
Cost: Free


Watch one of Dublin’s most iconic destinations come alive with a story of fairytale characters and vibrant landscapes told through 3D projections onto each building. This interactive animation allows your little ones to become storytellers! Other Luminosity events will take place at Wolfe Tone Square and Trinity College from 5pm to midnight.

Have some fun on the last day of the year with a family ice-skating session. Skates are provided. This is a great day out for all the family!

Limerick's winter ice rink is back at Arthur's Quay and is open all day on New Year's Eve. With a special skate school in operation during certain sessions, even beginners will have a great time!
 
Belfast
 
Once Upon a Fairytale

Cost: Free with W5 entry (£6.50 per child, £8.50 per adult)
 
This exhibition of model fairytale sets includes models of Dorothy's house from the Wizard of Oz, Captain Hook's ship from Peter Pan, the Snow Queen's castle, the Mad Hatter's tea party from Alice in Wonderland, the Dwarves cottage from Snow White and the Beast's Castle from Beauty and the Beast.
 
Climbit at Christmas
W5 at The Odyssey

Cost: Free with W5 entry (£6.50 per child, £8.50 per adult)
 
This incredible climbing exhibit has been transformed for Christmas, allowing youngsters to ascend the "icy peaks" amid a swirling storm of light-projected snowflakes. A magical winter experience.
