While images or footage going viral online is no rare occurence in our internet-obsessed age, it's not often the results have the potential to change the life for subject of the sensation.

But it looks like nine-year-old Daniel Cabrera is in the minority in this instance, and we couldn't be happier for him!

Having been photographed doing his homework in the dim light offered by a McDonald's restaurant by a passing medical student who subsequently posted the image online, Daniel has become both the symbol for determination and tenacity as well as the recipient of much-needed funds.

The Filipino schoolboy came to the attention of the public when Joyce Gilos Torrefranco took to Facebook to share the image of little Daniel doing his homework on a makeshift desk by the side of the road, writing: "I got inspired by a kid."

Having been circulated across various social media platforms, the story of Daniel's family soon came to light resulting in the donation of money and school supplies by members of the public, all eager to help the child's cause.

In addition to this, Daniel has been awarded an unspecified scholarship by politician, Samuel Pagdilao, of  the Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement & Support (ACT-CIS) party.

Daniel mum, Christina, who lost her husband in 2013, works two jobs in order to provide for her family, spoke highly of her son's work ethic, saying: "He is a very studious and determined boy. He says 'Mama, I don't want to stay poor. I want to reach my dreams'."

Having lost their home to a fire five years ago, Daniel and two of his siblings live in the grocery store from which his mother is employed and struggle to make ends meet on Christina's daily wage of £1.14.

Stunned by the public's donations, Christina said: "We're overjoyed. I don't know what I will do with all of these blessings. Now, Daniel will not have to suffer just to finish his studies."

Commenting on the image which resulted in such an outpouring of emotion and generosity, 20-year-old Joyce said: "I couldn't believe how my post went viral and helped him in his studies. I was in awe. While other streetkids were begging for alms, he was studying."

Daniel will now be able to fulfill his dreams of becoming a policeman having touched the public with his quiet but determined attitude.
