The doctor responsible for bringing Prince George into the world was honoured today by the famous father himself, Prince William.

Marcus Setchell was made Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order for his role in ensuring that Kate Middleton had a save delivery last July.

After the knighting ceremony, William gave Sir Marcus some updates on how George was doing since he last saw the baby prince.

The 71-year-old doctor was also responsible for treating Kate when she suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum at the beginning of her pregnancy.

Sir Marcus has served as the Queen’s surgeon-gynaecologist for the last two decades and decided to announce his retirment earlier this month. He has joked since though that he may be persuaded to return to work to deliver any other babies that William and Kate might plan on having.

Doctor Setchell has also been present for other royal deliveries including the Countess of Wessex's two children: Lady Louise Windsor and James Viscount Severn.
