If you have ever suffered the heartache of having your child admitted to hospital, you'll know only too well the distress which accompanies such an event.

Eager to support those faced with such a heartbreaking situation, Irish charity, Cliona's Foundation, aims to provide financial assistance for non-medical expenses to families with a critically ill child.

From assisting with transport costs to helping to cover the mortgage, Cliona's Foundation offers some much-needed support to despairing families, but they can't do it without the public's help!

Appealing to the public to dig deep this December, famous mum-of- eight, Miriam O' Callaghan, explains the impact a small donation can have on the family of a poorly child.

“Few people realise how expensive it can be to have a child in the hospital. Transport costs, child-minders for sisters and brothers at home, even parking fees can all add up,” she asserts while opening up about the charity which was established in 2007 by Terry and Brendan Ring following the death of their daughter Cliona.

“Families often find themselves in a situation where either mum or dad has to take time off work, which makes the problem even worse. This is where Cliona’s Foundation steps in,” she explains while reflecting on the additional stresses the festive season can bring to these families.

“Christmas is obviously an extra tough time for families in difficulty – please help by donating today, and posting our Christmas 2015 Appeal video on your social media pages.”

Paying tribute to the charity which supported her seven-year-old daughter, Lucy, while battling a brain tumour, mum Pauline assets: “Cliona’s Foundation helped us out in the very early days of Lucy’s treatment when things looked very bleak.”

“We were terrified, and just so grateful and humbled by Brendan and Terry and everything they do.  In the early days when Lucy was sick I didn’t care whether the bills were being paid or not, but life has to go on, and the costs of having a child in the hospital can really mount up.”

We know what we'll be doing this month, do you?
