There have been too many stories of children being left in cars, and we now have another one to report but, thankfully, this one has a happy ending.

A dad-of-two was boarding a train in Massachusetts this week, when he suddenly realised he had left his one-year-old daughter in the back of his SUV.

Talking to The Boston Herald, the father, who only spoke out on condition of anonymity, said it was only when he arrived at his destination in Kendall Square - a half an hour away - did he realise what he had done.

Talking to the media, the college administrator, who called 911 as soon as he realised what had happened, said: "My heart sank. It's a very helpless feeling."

Thankfully the little girl, who was not harmed, was found by police and the dispatcher called the father to let him know.

The dad went on to say: “Thank God it didn't go worse. I've been beating myself up all day."

Talking about how easy this can happen, he added: “It’s kind of ironic to me that someone who’s worried about this in the past wound up doing it.”

The man was questioned by police and, according to reports, the have decided not to charge him.
