The father of Kleyo De Abreu, a British student who died after doing a bungee jump from the Granda's Tablate Birdge in Spain on Tuesday, has opened up about the impact her untimely demise has had on him.

Speaking to ITV news, Bernard Atwell insists he needs to be given details into the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death saying: "I need to know exactly what happened. I need to know every second of what happened."

Clearly despairing, he added: "I need to get down to the bottom of it and I know that the whole of our family are not going to rest until we do."

Aspiring fashion designer Kleyo, who died in front of her horrified relatives, hadn't seen her father for quite some time before briefly meeting him in the run-up to her trip to Spain.

Recalling their final moments together, a heartbroken Bernard said: "It was about a month ago. She pecked me on the cheek and then she got on the plane to visit family in Spain."

Struggling to put his grief into words, Kleyo's father explained: "I don't think that there is an emotion that can fathom exactly what goes on. Emptiness isn't an emotion, and loss isn't an emotion."

Bernard, who is currently in close contact with Spanish authorities, is due to fly to Spain in order to learn more of the circumstances which led to his 23-year-old daughter's demise.

Commenting on Kleyo's death at the time, Guardia Civil, the Spanish police force said: "The cause of the accident is being investigated by the judicial police of the Guardia Civil Órgiva. The body was rescued by a special unit of the Guardia Civil and was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Granada."

Paying tribute to his child, the grief stricken parent simply said: "She was the most beautiful thing in the world. I was more proud of her than any father. I still am. I miss my girl."

Our thoughts go out to Kleyo's devastated friends and family at this heartbreaking time.
