Father-of-four Conor Cashman wept as he recalled the moment he realised he had reversed over his son in a tragic accident on the family's farm in Co. Cork last May.

At an inquest into the death 18-month-old Fionn, his father struggled to maintain his composure as he revisited the events of that day.

Explaining that he had been moving bales of hay between farm sheds, the well-respected vet detailed the chain of events which led to his toddler son's tragic passing.

Having dropped the heavy bale, Fionn's heartbroken father recalls slowly reversing the vehicle away from the door.

Opening up about the horrifying moment he realised he had hit his son, Mr. Cashman said: "Fionn must have been behind the left wheel. I never saw him. Then I saw Fionn lying on the ground motionless. I had felt nothing on the tractor...no bump, no impact."

The child, who was the youngest of four, died from head injuries sustained in a low-speed vehicle run-over and his death has been ruled accidental.

Commenting on the verdict, Coroner Frank O'Connell said: "It was a simple case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Our hearts go out to the Cashman family.
