As the world mourned the tragedy in Paris on Friday night, families on the other side of the world were reeling from the horrific twin bombings in Beirut the previous day, with many having one man to thank for saving their life.

Dad-of-two, Adel Termos, is being credited with helping to save the lives of hundreds after he jumped on a suicide bomber, causing him to detonate early.

According to the Independent, after a mosque in Beirut had been targeted by a suicide bomber, Mr Termos is believed to have spotted a second approaching, before throwing himself on top of him.

By tackling the bomber, the Lebanese father caused him to detonate early, saving the lives of many families around him.

“He tackled him to the ground, causing the second suicide bomber to detonate. There are many, many families, hundreds of families probably, who owe their completeness to his sacrifice,” physician Elie Fares told PRI.

Carrying the body of Mr Termos through the streets of the Tallousa on Friday, the crowd chanted slogans while his young children carried his portrait.

Isis has claimed responsibility for both the Beirut bombings, which killed 44 people and injured more than 200, and the Paris atrocities, which left 129 death and 350 injured.
