The FBI has joined the hunt for three-year-old Mariah Woods, who has been missing from her home in Jacksonville, North Carolina since Sunday night, Sky News reports.

Her mother, Kirsty Woods, pleaded for her daughter's safe return: "Please, bring her back and I love her, I'll do anything that I can. Whatever you want, just bring her home please, safe and sound. She's my baby, she's my everything."

People have been sharing pictures of Kirsty, appealing for anyone to come forward who knows her whereabouts. A reward of $2,500 (€2,100) is offered for anyone who has reliable information.

The FBI also has released a possible photo of Mariah, reports WBIR, and asks that anyone who knows the adult and the child in the photo contact the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at 910-455-3113.

Kirsty described Mariah as 'an angel', saying in a video featured by Sky News, "She's goofy, outgoing, talkative. She knows how to make your day brighter."

The mother had put her daughter to bed on Sunday night. An amber alert was issued Monday morning just after 6am when Mariah was reported missing. The alert usually signals that a child aged 17 or younger is at immediate risk of harm or injury.

According to the ABC News, the Onslow County Sheriff Department said it is too early to speculate on what exactly happened.

The local community have joined the search for the three-year-old and they 'love her to death', said mum Kirsty.

When asked what it would mean to see Mariah again, Kirsty replied, "Everything in the world."

We hope that Mariah returns home soon, safe and sound.
