We've always bought Siucra products in our house, my mum and nan bought it, and so will my kids I imagine. It's a reliable product, that does exactly what you need it to do. The products we buy regularly are granulated sugar, icing sugar and golden brown sugar. I haven't bought the roll out icing before, I was a bit worried what it would be like, but I needn't have worried - it was brilliant, easy to work with, tasted great, looked fantastic and was so quick and easy to use I'd need a good reason to go back to making my own from scratch again.
I made buns and a tray bake and they were scoffed in record time. The family (and neighbours) raved about them, and have asked for more.
This was easy and quick to use, it rolled out perfectly and was simply to shape whether using a knife or shape. The kids loved taking part too and are demanding to be part of the Christmas cake icing and I might even let them this year - mainly becuase there is no fuss and no mess and with the roll out icing even the kids can make their own decorations which we can colour too.
I have already bought more for the Christmas cake, and have told my mum she has to do the same, I know she'll love it too. I guess if there was one thing I'd add it's a variet of colours, but it's quite easy to colour this one so it's not a big deal.
I love it and would recommend to everyone, especially busy mums with little helpers who liked to get involved in baking.
Thanks a lot for letting us take part.

Thank you so so much for selecting me to take part in this trial. It couldn't have come at a better time ... I had two coffee mornings that I said I would bake for, and we had friends over with their kids so I thought I'd make the best of it and get the kids involved in helping me make cupcakes, a cake and little sugar decorations.
I'm very familiar with Siucra products, and always buy them, although I've never bought this roll out icing. I have to say, it's the easiest thing I've ever used. We decided we would cover the cupcakes with the icing, and it made a normally messy job really simply, clean and fast. The icing is so easy to work with and the kids loved cutting out shapes and helping - by the end of it the cupcakes looked fantastic and everyone really enjoyed the taste test too.
After the cupcakes, I went for the full cake decoration - this is normally my pet hate as it's so messy and tough to get right (I'm not an avid baker and decorator to be honest) but with Siucra Roll Out Icing I got it done in no time, with no mess. The kids took a little piece of icing each and made their ownd decorations with their choice fo colour - the icing turned the colour perfectly and with very littel effort, and the creations were the perfect finish to my cake.
I brought all the cupcakes (the remaining ones after our taste test at home of course!!) and the cake to my coffee mornings and they were the big hit of the day. Everyone loved the taste of them and how they looked, I told them all about the Siucra Roll Out Icing and everyone agreed that's what they would be using next.
Brilliant product, that you so much for letting me take part, will definitely buy again ... I might even do my own Christmas cake icing this year ... a first!

I have been buying Siucra products for years. It would be my first choice in my baking and I would use caster, Icing, Light golden brown and Rich dark brown sugar in many of my recipes. I would also always have my sugar bowl full of Siucra granulated sugar. I haven't tried the Sure set jam sugar yet and this was my first time to try the Roll out icing.

I found the Siucra Roll Out Icing quite easy to use. I suppose at this time of the year everyone would be making their Christmas cake but we are not big fans of Christmas cake in our house. So I decided to try one of the recipes in the Mummypages Mum's Baking Book and just adapt it to incorporate the use of the roll out icing. So I made a Lemon and Cream layer cake from the cookbook and then covered it with the icing.

It was much easier and quicker to use rather than making your own icing and it covered the cake nice and evenly. I liked the taste of the icing and it went really well with the cake. I had some family over for afternoon
Sunday tea and they loved the cake with the icing, which they mistakenly thought I had bought as it looked great.

It saved me time using it and I liked that it was ready made. I would buy it again as I found it very convenient and would recommend it. But it would be great if it came in other colours or flavours to use for Birthday cakes. I would love to see yellow lemon roll out icing or pink strawberry roll of icing.

Loved this trial a lot. I can't believe I've never bought Siucra Roll Out Icing before - it's a contender for best thing ever.
Had my son's birthday to cook for and as I'm not much good at that sort of thing, I normally buy everything in, but this time, I thought i'd give it all a go myself ... including his birthday cake request which was a 'mummy' ... and as you can imagine this icing was simply perfect. I simply made two rectangular quick-mix cakes, sandwiched them together and then rolled out the icing (which was super easy), cut it into strips and layered it on top. It geniunely couldn't have been easier. And my son was so chuffed with the result.
I would recommend Siucra Roll Out Icing to everyone (and have already told my friends about it) it is ridiculously easy to use, tastes great and looks brilliat. Will definitely buy again.

I loved this product. Given that I am a frequent user of all things Siúcra, I was more than happy to see roll out added to their list of products. I found it most easy to use and used it for a cake as well as some cupcakes for my sons christening at the weekend. I would love to see it come in other colours, however I did use a food colour over it, painted on albeit, abd it worked a treat. Get it on the shelves soon I say! Simply siúcra at its best

Myself and my daughter Sophia used the siúcra roll out icing together to cover fairy cakes for her friends birthday party. We used the leftover icing just to make some icing cookies for ourselves as a treat . Highly recommend it so so easy to roll out even for my daughter (4) great bonding time and delicious also. So happy all round with the product!

I would be very familiar with the Siucra brand for many years both as a child and now as an adult. I welcomed the addition of a roll out icing as I find it so handy for birthday and other occassion cakes I make throughout the year.

I used it to cover my daughters birthday cake. An 8 inch round chocolate madeira. I needed to use one and a half packets to adequately coverthis cake even at that the icing was fairly thinly rolled out.

It was soft and easily rolled as asoon as I took it out of the packet, unlike other icings which have to be worked for a while before rolling. On the downside this made it a bit sticky and slow to become firmer. I needed to be very carefult handling the cake so as not to leave finger marks in it . It didnt really get much firmer, even the next day.

I agree with previous comments that there wasnt really much of a flavour from it but I liked that as it wasnt sickly sweet or overpowering

The icing took colouring well but was a bit difficult for moulding shapes as it was so soft> it would need tylo powder or similar to harden it up for this.

All in all a pleasant icing, maybe more suitable for cupcakes thank icing a large cake.

Thanks for letting me take part in this trial.
i enjoyed working with Siucra rollout icing. I covered a cake and it worked out perfectly well. I liked the flavour as I find other brands of icing very sickly. Would be good to see different colours and flavours (lemon, chocolate etc) in this brand. I would also like to see a pre rolled icing sheet for say an 8"inch cake round or square. I'm thinking pure convenience in the run up to Christmas.

I was pleasantly surprised by Siúcra's fondant. I make a lot of cakes so was intrigued to know how it would work:
Positives: Beautiful smooth texture; malleable, didn't dry out too quickly; gorgeous smooth finish; my son said it was the nicest fondant he had tasted/my husband said it tasted of nothing. The fact he said it was tasteless I see as a positive as it doesn't take away from the actual cake; colours well.
Negative: I made some figures withh it and tried to use it in an extruder - it was too tough to go through the attachment!! Never experienced that before and I was shocked as it is so soft to the touch.

I would most certainly use it again.

The timing of this trial and the arrival of the product was just perfect for me as I had intended to finally get around to making our Christmas cake. This was just what I needed to give me the push to get started and get the job done. I had been following the Bake Off over the last few weeks and I was determined to become a whizz in the kitchen and produce my own showstoppers before the year was out!

I am very aware of the Siucra brand as it is the only granulated, caster, brown or icing sugar I tend to buy, mainly because it’s a reliable, Irish brand. Over the years I have tried all Siucra products with the exception of the Sure Set Jam Sugar, jam is not something I have ventured into making myself just yet! I have never had any complaints and I have always been 100% satisfied with Siucra.

I loved this innovative new product and I think it will sell very well. It’s easy to use - no fuss, no mess, fast and efficient. It makes the baking process so much more enjoyable and fun (especially if there are little ones involved!). The verdict with everyone in our house was very positive, it tastes great and the kids were delighted to be involved in decorating. Usually I won’t let them near me when I’m getting stuck into the icing as it’s so easy to get it wrong and ruin the overall effect. For me, it is inevitably too watery and ends up spilling off the side of the cake which ruins the finish. It’s so difficult to get the quantities exactly right if you’re not experienced. None of these problems with this product I am happy to say. It really appealed to me that it was ready to use, no preparation at all made it so much easier to get going and get the job done.

When I received the Siucra packets, I immediately set about 2 tasks. Firstly I was to make our Christmas cake and secondly I had to make iced buns for one of the kids school cake sale.
I would normally consider icing a Christmas cake as an awful headache but it was so much easier this time round. All I needed was a clean counter, a rolling pin and hey presto, job done in a matter of minutes. It was easy to place it on the marzipan and I enjoyed perfecting the outside with my own decorations. In fact, it was such a success that I’m looking forward
to doing it again for the final version. With regard to the iced buns, the kids got involved and we had a great laugh. We spent the afternoon decorating with cutters and all sorts of fun decorations. They were very proud to be bringing them in and were delighted to show them off!

I think that the product has great potential and the range could be expanded. I would like to see more colours and flavours. I think bright vibrant colours would be great. Wouldn’t it be ideal if there was a red and green version for Christmas decorations? Another suggestion I would have would be to have a kids version, maybe package it up with cutters, silver balls, sugar strands and other fun novelty ideas. This would be sure to be very popular and would make it appealing to kids, encouraging them to get involved and entice them away from the tv. I’d love to see more flavours too, I often attempt a coffee cake, almond cake or a chocolate cake where I could use a pre prepared icing to make my job easier. I think the product needs to stand out and I’m not sure the packaging is very distinctive or different in the current form. It needs to be noticed more. I would suggest bigger, bolder colours and perhaps some suggested recipes or uses on the outside packaging. Also the price needs to be considered. While it’s a super handy and clever product, it needs to be priced reasonably if it’s going to sell well.

Yes I will definitely buy this product again. I think this type of ready to use, efficient, clean and
easy product is just what busy parents want. Everybody wants to boast about their own homemade bakes but it can be hard to fit it into a busy lifestyle. This icing sugar definitely cuts down on the time and hassle required. To be honest, I don’t see myself buying Siucra icing sugar (non roll out) any more as I feel that this new product does the job better and it will suit my lifestyle. I will be recommending this product to my parents, my sisters and my friends. I think it has a wide ranging appeal and will be popular for all wannabe kitchen masters like me!

I am aware of the Suicra brand and have used their granulated sugar, icing sugar, caster sugar and light golden brown sugar. I have always been pleased with the quality of their products and have never had any problems with them.
I found the Roll Out Icing very easy to use. Rolling it out was very easy and putting it onto the cake was easy too. I really enjoyed using it as it made cake decorating very easy. I made a plain cake with jam in the middle and used the roll out icing for the top and sides of the cake.
I loved the fact that it is ready to use, it makes it really easy and hassle free. It would definitely make attract me to the product.
While using the product was easy and the handiness would appeal to me, it was the taste I didn’t enjoy. Neither me or my family liked the taste of it. It made no impact on the cake, it certainly didn’t add anything to it. We found it wasn’t sweet enough, it was bland and seemed to be pointless to the cake. For this reason I don’t think I would be inclined to buy the product again, nor would I recommend it.
The packaging is appealing to customers. Different colours of icing may be useful, such as pink, red, blue and green. Various sized packets would also be useful. The icing is little hassle to roll out but a pre-rolled version may appeal to certain aspects of the market. A variety of flavours wouldn’t necessarily appeal to me but again may be useful to some people, flavours such as lemon and chocolate would be good ones to try.
I think it would be helpful if it was written on the packet the maximum size of the cake it would ice and if different packets were for different sized cakes and perhaps a cupcake pre-rolled version would work well, if there were changes to the recipe to make it more tasty.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of this trial. I have been using Siúcra products for years and would mostly use their caster sugar, rich dark brown sugar and instant royal icing. I have never tried ready made roll out icing before so was interested to see what it would be like. I made a Madeira cake in a loaf tin and filled the cake with raspberry jam and buttercream icing. I found the Siúcra Roll Out Icing very easy to use and the cake looked great with very little effort. I found the icing tasted exactly the same as icing on decorated birthday cakes you can buy. It was definitely a fast way to decorate a cake and I will buy it again. I think I will mainly use it for birthday cakes but will also try it on cupcakes. And I will also continue to use Siúcra Instant Royal Icing. I would gladly recommend it to friends and family. I would like to see the range extended to include new colours and also a larger pack. I'm unsure about different flavours. But I am delighted I tried it and will be buying it again.

i have to say i have always used siucra products such as sugar, castor sugar and golden brown sugar, i have always mjade my own icing from scratch when baking, but been a busy mother of 5 it became very time consuming. so as you can imagine i was delighted to test siucra's roll out icing, i found the icing brilliant, it had a great textue, great taste and was very quick and easy to use, it rolled out perfectly, my children also enjoyred using it to make snowmen to put on top of our iced cakes and to top it off there was no mess as you would get from making your own icing from scratch. i would definetly recommend this product to anybody who enjoys baking and doesnt have much time on their hands and i have recommended it to family members already. Thanks Siucra for allowing me to buy your product i will be certainly using it in the future.
