The fake news epidemic has hit everyone - including TOWIE's Ferne McCann.

A number of outlets reported that Ferne has been visiting her ex Arthur Collins in prison. He was found guilty of five counts of grievous bodily harm and nine of actual bodily harm for his part in an acid attack in a London nightclub last April.

The mum-of-one was upset by these stories, as she maintains she has only visited her baby's father in prison once, so the 27-year-old took to Twitter to clap back.

"I am posting this so it cannot be misquoted and sets the record straight. There's constantly a slew of false stories written about me," Ferne stated.

"The story today says that I have been visiting Sunday's father in prison," she wrote, referring to their two-month-old daughter, "As I have already made clear, I visited him once and I have not been to see him since."

Ferne's been very vocal about being proud of raising Sunday on her own, even though she eschews the term 'single mum'. She has said in the past that her single prison visit would be the last time Arthur would ever see them.

The I'm A Celebrity star continued in her note, "'I have repeatedly made clear that I have not been to see him in response to the press asking me but this has been ignored. Again and for absolute clarity, I do not in anyway condone the actions that took place in Mangle in April 2017."

The mum ended her note with a powerful anti-violence message.

"Nobody should be faced with violence on a night out and the victims have my fullest sympathy. Respectfully, Ferne."

In response, the reality star's fans sent her a flurry of supportive messages on social media.

"It’s about time people realise you are not in any way, shape ,or form responsible for the man's actions. Anyone in their right mind would know this you don’t need to justify yourself to anyone Ferne," one person tweeted.

Another wrote, "Let her enjoy her new baby and her life!!"

"Awful that you have to justify yourself when you read false stories," a follower said, "Glad you’re staying away from him, all your baby girl needs is you."
