Anyone who has travelled with a tot will know only too well that it can be challenging at times, and so the patience of those around you can make all the difference in a tricky situation.

Luckily for Heather Gooch, a New Yorker flying home during the Christmas rush, she experienced the kindness of the human spirit right when she needed it.

Heather and her husband were flying from Florida with Southwest Airlines on December 28, and it marked the very first flight for their nine-month-old son, Aiden.

The couple were already nervous about how Aiden might react during the flight, and were worried when the tot became 'antsy' after take-off.

Just when it looked as though the journey might end in disaster, flight attendant Anissa Charles stepped in. According to a Facebook post written by mum Heather, this wonderful woman went above and beyond when it came to caring for little Aiden and helping out the couple.

Moments like these are what Southwest Heart is all about!

Not only was Anissa kind and patient with the nine-month-old, who took a bit of a shine to her, but at one point she even picked him up and walked with him while Heather and her husband ate their lunch.

Praising Anissa in her post, Heather wrote: "I have NEVER had a flight attendant as kind and as helpful as she was. My son adored her and kept looking for her as she passed by."

After being alerted to the post by friends, Anissa responded by telling Heather that helping her and Aiden out was a "pleasure".

"I tell adults all the time on my flights, children are doing exactly what they are supposed to do... make noise!" wrote Anissa.

Well done to her - it just goes to show that, often, the smallest gestures can make all the difference to someone's life.
